Dr Silke Metzelthin is an occupational therapist and an assistant professor at Maastricht University. Ines Mouchaers
Ines Mouchaers obtained her Master’s degree in Clinical Biomedical Sciences in 2018 at KU Leuven University. During her master project at the university hospital in Leuven, she conducted research on healthy ageing by means of optimized movement and nutrition involving healthy and frail older people. During this period, she developed a great interest in the care for the older population and wanted to contribute to improving this care. Driven by this interest, she started as a PhD candidate at the Living Lab of Ageing and Long Term Care within the department of Health Services Research at Maastricht University. Her project is part of the European TRANS-SENIOR program (https://www.trans-senior.eu/). The project is focusing on reducing the number of avoidable transitions from home care to hospitals and nursing homes by developing an interdisciplinary primary care approach for older care-dependent people in the Dutch community care setting, based on the principles of reablement.
Lise Buma
Lise Buma is a physiotherapist specialised in geriatrics, and a PhD candidate at the Living Lab of Ageing and Long Term Care within the department of Health Services Research at Maastricht University. In her work as a physiotherapist, Lise is passionate about enabling individuals to remain as independent as possible while still being able to do the things they love. Within her PhD-project she explores different reablement service models across the world aiming to fill current evidence gaps and determining which (features of) reablement service models are more effective than others, and which factors influence implementation.
Elly Branderhorst
Elly Branderhorst is an occupational therapist. She has been working with the elderly for over 20 years. In her work as occupational therapist she especially found satisfaction in guiding the elderly to relearn the activities that are important to them. In 2021 Elly completed the Dutch master neurorehabilitation and innovation. During her master’s, she developed the program Longer Active at Home (in Dutch: Langer Actief Thuis (LAT)). This program is based on the principles of reablement. After the master’s Elly started as project leader of the LAT program. Driven by the first successes of the LAT program, she wants to contribute to the development of reablement in the Netherlands. In 2023 she started as a PhD candidate at IQ Healthcare, part of Radboud University in Nijmegen. Her project is focusing on the further development of the LAT program and the further development of reablement in the Netherlands.
